If your children love diggers, construction vehicles, and hands-on experiences, Diggerland Yorkshire in Castleford is the perfect day out. We visited over the Easter Holidays with our two boys, aged 3 and 6, and had a fantastic time.

📍 Getting There & Where We Stayed
We drove to Yorkshire, which took about three hours, setting off around 9am. We stayed at the Premier Inn Halifax Town Centre, which was convenient and comfortable.
🎢 Attractions & Rides
Diggerland offers a unique experience where kids can operate real diggers and construction vehicles in a safe environment. Highlights from our visit:
- Skyshuttle – the big lifting tower, loved by my 6-year-old, where he could operate a lot of rides himself.
- Soft Play Area – perfect for our youngest to explore and burn off energy.
- Most rides – the kids could go on with adults or operate themselves.
There were hardly any queues when we visited, so we could enjoy everything at our own pace.
🍴 Food & Facilities
We ate in the Dig Inn Cafe, and were happy with the food. It was the usual theme park offering, possibly a bit cheaper than some other places we’ve been. There was plenty of seating inside, and you can also bring your own food if you prefer.
đź’° Cost & Booking
Tickets cost £25.95 per person over 1m; children under 1m go free. There’s also a £1 booking fee per person.
Since there aren’t really any discounts for school holidays, it’s best to book the night before if buying online, so you can check the weather.
⏰ Tips for Visiting
- Arrive Early – it helps you enjoy the park before it gets busy.
- Weather Considerations – as someone who does not like rain, I wouldn’t recommend visiting in wet weather.
- Time – the kids were entertained for most of the day, but we left around lunchtime because it became unbearably busy.

If you like, I can also create a “Day Out in a Nutshell” summary box for Diggerland, similar to what we’ve done for Peppa Pig World and Eureka!, with ages, highlights, tips, and costs. Do you want me to do that?
