The Best Hotels in Gran Canaria for Families with Young Children

When you’re planning a family holiday with young children, the hotel makes all the difference. With two kids aged 4 and 7, I knew we needed somewhere that offered space, family-friendly pools, activities, and good food. After lots of research, I shortlisted eight fantastic hotels in Gran Canaria — and ultimately chose to stay at HD Parque Cristóbal for our May half-term trip this year with my husband and two children age 4 and 7.

Here’s a look at each hotel on my list, why they’re perfect for families, and what made HD Parque Cristóbal the best choice for us.

1. 🏝️ HD Parque Cristóbal Gran Canaria – Our Choice

We ended up staying here, and it was the perfect fit for our family.

  • Spacious Bungalows: Instead of standard hotel rooms, you get family-friendly bungalows with separate bedrooms for the children — a real lifesaver at bedtime.
  • Pools & Slides: Multiple pools, including children’s pools with fun slides and splash zones.
  • Good Food: The buffet had a wide variety of fresh options every day, with child-friendly choices and healthier dishes too. Our kids particularly enjoyed the chocolate fountain.
  • Family Vibe: Everything is designed around families, from the kids’ club and entertainment to the relaxed atmosphere.

It gave us a stress-free balance between fun for the children and relaxation for us as parents. Read my full review of HD Parque Cristobal here.

2. 🌊 Lopesan Baobab Resort

This hotel has a striking African safari theme and feels like an adventure in itself.

  • Seven pools, some shallow and perfect for children, plus sandy “beach-style” areas.
  • Large family rooms and suites with extra space.
  • A mini-club and activities designed for kids of different ages.
  • Gorgeous gardens with plenty of shade (handy in the Canarian sun).

It’s on the pricier side, but a brilliant choice if you want luxury with a family-friendly touch.

3. 🏖️ TUI Blue Orquídea

Part of TUI’s family-focused Blue range, this resort is built with kids in mind.

  • Kids’ clubs from babies to teens, run by trained childcare staff.
  • Daily family entertainment, including early-evening shows suitable for younger children.
  • Family-sized apartments with kitchenettes.
  • A beachfront location, so you can switch between the pool and the sea easily.

A safe, reliable choice for families who like plenty of structured activities.

4. 🐠 Abora Interclub Atlantic by Lopesan

Located in San Agustín, this is a fun, budget-friendly option.

  • Known for its huge pool complex with slides that children love.
  • Spacious green areas and playgrounds.
  • Family rooms that can accommodate up to five people.
  • All-inclusive dining with a variety of cuisines to suit different tastes.

Great for active families who want plenty of outdoor space for little ones to burn off energy.

5. 🏊‍♂️ Gloria Palace Amadores Thalasso & Hotel

This one appeals to parents who want a touch of relaxation while keeping kids entertained.

  • Stunning clifftop location with sea views.
  • Two pools plus a children’s pool, with plenty of loungers.
  • A well-run kids’ club and evening entertainment.
  • The thalasso spa is a bonus for parents who want a bit of downtime.

It’s a good mix of family facilities with some luxury touches.

6. 🌴 Radisson Blu Resort Gran Canaria

Perfect for families who like space and comfort.

  • Large suites and apartments with kitchen facilities, making it easy to prepare snacks or simple meals for children.
  • Direct access to two beaches.
  • Multiple pools, including a kids’ pool.
  • On-site kids’ club and babysitting services.

It’s quieter than some of the bigger resorts, which is a plus if you prefer a more relaxed environment.

7. 🌅 Resort Cordial Santa Águeda & Perchel Beach Club

A stylish and modern resort that combines the comforts of apartment living with access to a beautiful beach club.

  • Spacious Apartments: Families get plenty of room, with kitchens for easy meal prep — perfect for younger children.
  • Perchel Beach Club: Guests can enjoy the club’s pools, sun decks, and restaurants, all overlooking the sea.
  • Family-Friendly Facilities: Play areas and safe spaces for little ones to explore.
  • Relaxed Atmosphere: It feels calmer and less crowded than some of the bigger resorts, while still offering high-quality amenities.

This is a brilliant option if you like the flexibility of apartment-style living but still want the perks of a resort and beach club experience.

8. 🌺 Club Maspalomas Suites & Spa

This hotel is slightly more boutique in feel, but still welcoming to families.

  • Bright, modern bungalows with private terraces.
  • Lovely pools, including shallow areas for kids.
  • Calm, green surroundings — less hectic than larger resorts.
  • A spa and wellness area for parents looking to unwind.

A great choice if you want something quieter but still child-friendly.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Why We Chose HD Parque Cristóbal

Although all of these hotels had amazing features for families, HD Parque Cristóbal was the best fit for us this year because:

  • The separate bedrooms meant better sleep for everyone.
  • The pools and slides were exactly what our kids love.
  • The food was fresh, tasty, and easy for the whole family.

It offered everything we needed for a relaxed, fun, and memorable May half-term holiday.

✈️ Final Thoughts

Gran Canaria is one of the best destinations for families in Europe, with sunshine, safe beaches, and a huge choice of child-friendly hotels. Each of the eight hotels above has something special to offer, but if you want a stress-free, family-first holiday, I’d recommend HD Parque Cristóbal as a top pick.
